What Is High Quality Child Care?

What is high-quality child care? There is actually much more to consider than you might think. Some of the most basic expectations should have regarding quality are that the setting is:

  • safe and free from hazards
  • welcoming for parents and children
  • nurturing
  • appropriately educational and cognitively stimulating
  • clean and well maintained
  • and the list goes on...

There is so much more to consider! At NACCRRA, we developed 38 research-based indicators that parents can use to evaluate child care. Complete our checklist to evaluate programs or download our booklet Is This the Right Place for My Child?: 38 Research-Based Indicators of High-Quality Child Care to learn even more about what you should consider when you assess child care.
